I'm a thief...

by faaaantastic @ Friday, 30. Jun, 2006 - 13:02:05

Name: Faaaantastic

Listening to: Summer of Song (BBC Radio Scotland)

Mood: Fine and dandy

About to: Make some toasted cheese I think

Just: Wrote an e-mail to a mate

Thinking about: When my eye will look OK again

This weekend I will mostly: watch football and run a half marathon

Parting shot of wisdom: "Everything you do or say affects someone, so be good"

Ouch!

I was walking home from the pub on Sunday and there was a bus stopped in the middle of the road with it's hazzard lights on. People were standing up and looking at the floor, so I was curious and was looking in the bus to see what was going on (there was some sort of commotion going on inside, including the bus driver). It was as I walked along, still curious as to what was happening inside the stationary bus, that I found out that a lamp post is a very unforgiving object. I bounced off it, burst out laughing with embarrassment hoping that no one on the bus had seen me. It was only as I went to walk on that I noticed gallons of blood falling onto the pavement and down my clothes. You get some strange looks walking home with a face and clothes covered in blood. I now look like a thug with a big cut along my eyebrow and a swollen eye, and no one believes me when I tell them how it happened.

Where have I been?!

Hi!

Well, it's been a wee while since I posted. What's been happening?

Last weekend I thought I was going to die! I took part in the Loew Alpine Mountain Marathon (www.lamm.co.uk) - the hardest race I've ever done. Me and my partner got lost on the first day, I ran out of water and got dehydrated, and for a wee while I thought I'd never start day 2 never mind finish it. We got round though.

Then on Tuesday my mum got taken into hospital and that's kept me busy heading back and forward from the hospital. She got out today - hopefully it's nothing serious. I've also been doing a bit of painting to pay the bills while I'm on holiday.

Anyway, I should go and read some blogs to find out what everyone's been up to.

Catching up...

Seems a wee while since I've posted anything on here. What on Earth have I been up to?

Well, at the weekend I was through in Edinburgh as I was running the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday morning. Had no intention of running it really fast so decided to run round with a clubmate and finished in just under 3:10. It was a nightmare of a day to run a marathon - sunny and 25 deg C. There were a few people coolapsing and a number of ambulances buzzing about but luckily I don't think there were any really serious casualties.

Popped into my new school yesterday afternoon and got shown my classroom. Can't belive I'll have my own classroom! I'm really looking forward to August.

Today I went to sign on the dole as I have failed to find a job for over the summer. You know you live in the East End of Glasgow when there are 4 bouncers at the job centre! The rest of today has been spent with my arse on the couch watching the footy, with a wee 7 mile run between the Togo v Korea and France v Switzerland games. I'm now waiting for the Brazil v Croatia game. It's a tough life.

Confused

by faaaantastic @ Friday, 09. Jun, 2006 - 17:39:57

I've searched the TV schedules, and I still can't see when the Scotland game is on. Every other country in the world seems to be playing so why aren't we??? Oh well.

So tomorrow I head through to Auld Reekie as I'm running the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday. To be honest, I've a pretty bad feeling about it. It's going to be about 25 deg C, and the rumour is that the organisers haven't ordered wnough water as they had money problems. I should be OK as I'll be lucky enough to be nearer the front of the field than the back, but I just hope that the Edinburgh Marathon doesn't make the headlines for the wrong reasons. I watched 2 folk collapse in the final stages of a 10k last night so I'm not looking forward to seeing how thousands of runners cope with the heat over 26.2 miles. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, hope you're all enjoying the sunshine. I went out and sat in then park for while this afternoon, but was sensible enough to splash on the factor 20 (unlike yesterday).

I'm too hot

by faaaantastic @ Thursday, 08. Jun, 2006 - 21:48:38

It's sooooooooooo warm (well, for Glasgow). As with most Glaswegians, I have no respect for the sun so I am now well sunburnt after sitting out in the sun with some mates.

So today was my final interview at college, where I got a good report, and I found out that I passed my final assignment. I think that means that I'm now a teacher. Scary.

A successful run!

Woo hoo - ran tonight's 10k in a new personal best of 34:02. And I won a £20 voucher. I can now go off to bed with a wee smile on my face.

Howdi bloggers

Hello. So, I'm alomost finished college! Wahay! Today was my last chemistry class where we made spoof videos. We made a 'Big Brother in the Lab' video and I got to play Shabaz and hide all the chemicals so my labmates couldn't do experiments. How sad we are. My mate was Pete and he was hilarious. Tomorrow I have my last class - on health education, then next week we go on a 2 day CPD course (hopefully a piss up), then I have my final interview with my tutor, then I start my summer job, before being a probationary teacher in mid August. Well, when I say summer job, I don't actually have one and I haven't been looking very hard. My mum and gran have offered me a loan to keep me going through the summer, which is very tempting as then I can chuck my tent and stuff in the boot of my car and go places like Islay, Mull and Skye that I've never been to be really should have been to by now. Wow, that was a long sentence.

Anyway, tonight I'm running a 10k race. Hopefully I'll do OK. Had a sore massage on my dodgy groin and I now have a huge bruise, but my groin feels a lot better. Is that too much information?
